Featured at 10:00pm: Emma G!

https://www.emmagmusic.com/home-spa

"Finding her voice as she rediscovers her American heritage from her home base in Washington DC, New Zealand-born singer/songwriter Emma G is a combination of Adele, Pink, Tracy Chapman and Alanis Morrissette. Her edgy tones and gutsy lyrics hammer home her messages of love, vulnerability, empowerment and strength with a soul-pop/rock sound that is engaging, inspiring and appealing to a hugely diverse audience.

Unapologetically outspoken, flying her freak flag, and always smiling, Washingtonian Magazine dubbed Emma G as one of the “Best of DC”. One Love Massive describes her as “charismatic”, and ANR Factory describes her voice as "poignant and beautiful” with “astounding bravery to speak up” on issues that matter to her.

And where did this bravery come from? A long history of health issues, brain surgeries, battles with depression and suicide, drug addiction, and sexual assault, yet still finding the inner strength to come out the other side positively: singing her truth. “Things that happen to us don’t make us who we are, but we all need to overcome struggles. The trick is to overcome them together.” Says Emma G. “My hope is that my music will not only resonate with individual people, but also ignite those flames of love, resilience and community”.

Recent appearances have included the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, Fox5 TV, PBS, and The Kennedy Center, and now - fresh off a 22-date US tour spanning from Washington DC to New York, Burlington, Vermont to Palm Springs, California; and Asheville, North Carolina to Austin, Texas with her band of misfits Joey J Drums and DJ Reality Check, the trio are a force to be reckoned with.

With her career blossoming, and fame surely beckoning, who knows what is around the corner? “I like to push the glass ceiling, be a little bit daring, and (hopefully) inspire others to do the same,” Emma G says with a laugh. “I’ve always been the person who sees the beauty in being truly, authentically yourself and celebrating your weirdness.”

The Daguerreotypes is a band always featuring James Samimi Farr and his compositions. An outstanding guitarist, singer, and songwriter, James’ work with The Daguerreotypes explores spirituality and selfhood, yielding songs that are virtuosic, moving, and perplexing. A recent transplant from Canada, James’ efforts to expand the folk idiom have won him such accolades as the CBC Galaxy Rising Star Award, led to collaborations with Alden Penner (ex-Unicorns) and Patrick Watson, as well as appearances alongside Sharon Van Etten, Joe Lally (Fugazi), and Kelly Joe Phelps. Featured at 10:00pm: Eric Keller!

"I strive as a music educator to be a supportive and knowledgeable guide in the exploration of the guitar. I seek to share the joy and lessons I have gathered in my 30 years of guitar experience in a way that will encourage musical growth and appreciation. I have studied music theory, jazz, and classical guitar with world-class musicians and teachers. I also perform original acoustic steel string finger-style pieces as a solo act, and am a member of a DC based rock band. Being a student of multiple genres allows me to tailor lessons to student's interests. Prior to moving to Northern Virginia in 2005, I taught field science to elementary and high school aged students at the Olympic Park Institute in Washington State.

When I am not teaching or playing music, I am raising my guys Asa (6) and Elliot (4) with my beautiful wife Emily."

Featured at 10:00pm, yours truly: Alex The Red Parez aka El Rojo!

www.alexparez.com

"Alex The Red Parez aka El Rojo has been bringing acoustic rock and old-time country to the Washington DC Metro Area since 2006. Whether performing original music or classic material, Alex’s voice is “reminiscent of Johnny Cash, though often sung with Jello Biafra’s inflection” (Matthew Stabley, NBCWashington.com) and “sounds like Nick Cave reinterpreting the early songbook of Bill Callahan” (The Big Easy - MetroMusicScence.com). “El Rojo” to his friends, Parez takes inspiration from epic troubadours Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and local balladeer John Bustine amongst various other artists. In trio mode, Alex is flanked by accomplished harmonica sideman Terry Boes and prolific bassist Derek Evry who is also a fantastic songwriter, singer, guitarist and band leader. Alex has also performed with several other local musicians for various tribute shows."
