Bio:
"For as long as I can remember I have had two passions: music and viral pathogenesis. Even though I pursued a career in science, music was always in the background. While in Paris attending a scientific conference at the Pasteur Institute, I wandered into a Latin Quarter jazz bar. I mentioned my love of the piano to the bar manager, and he gave me a slot to play. That night I sang in front of an audience for the first time. When I had finished, they offered me a job playing music before the nightly cabaret. Instead I went back to Virginia to finish my degree but knew I wanted to continue to perform. Since that night in Paris, I have been writing and performing music whenever I have the chance.
